historyFor more than twenty-five years Sunny Sports Club resides on its 6,000m2 grounds on Kastritsas St. It first opened its doors in 1986 and since then has continually offered its members a place to exercise and train, and a venue for daily meetings with friends. Over time, friends have become family, and Sunny Club has become a place where we are certain we will always find someone we know, a place where we can send our children to play with safety and care.
The warm and friendly atmosphere of Sunny Sports Club has become a model to be emulated by other sports centres and clubs. The idea is to offer a venue where all members and their families can comfortably meet their friends, exercise, enjoy their favourite sport and make pleasant and healthy use of their leisure time. If this has a familiar ring to you, it’s because it reminds you of the old neighbourhoods in which our parents grew up – the kind of environment that is hard to find in contemporary Athens.administrationSunny Sports Club team is made up of well-trained professionals, all experts in their fields, with university degrees and all necessary professional qualifications.
Chairman of the Board: Marina Gioti
Ms. Gioti graduated from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, in 1997, with a degree in Business Administration, special-izing in Marketing. From 1997 to 1999 she studied communication design at Pratt Institute in New York from where she graduated with honours. She spent much of her childhood at the Sunny Sports Club, having been a member since 1986. Since 2000 she has played an active role in the Club’s new programmes and its administration.

A little oasis on the edge of the city, offering moments of wonderful relaxation for you and your family. The Club’s pool – 20m x 10m – has a shallow and a deep end. There is also a children’s pool for our younger members.café/barThe café-bar is open to all those who want to enjoy a delightful coffee in a natural setting. Enjoy the view of the courts or the pool and try some of our imaginative fruit juices and incredible sweets and pastries!fitness roomOur 180 sq. m. gym is fully equipped with treadmills, exercise bicycles and state-of-the-art muscle-strengthening equipment to provide our members with a safe and effective work-out. The philosophy of the gym is based on the idea of personal training, where each of the staff acts as a personal coach. Because we have only a limited number of members, each coach is able to monitor the individual member’s exercise programme and progress – just like having your own personal trainer.group programmesAt the gym room overlooking the pool you can take part in a variety of programmes: aerobics, dance, yoga, pilates, zumba and others. Trainers with university degrees and substantial experience in their respective fields allow members the opportunity to vary and enrich their exercise programmes. The room has been carefully designed to allow members to work on improving their physical condition in a serene and tranquil setting.
To complement the range of summer activities available at the Club, we are now adding aqua aerobics to our aerobics programme. Use the power of the water to improve your body tone and achieve mental and emotional relaxation.restaurantMake yourselves at home! Home cooked recipes, prepared with love and care, are the trade mark of the Sunny Club restaurant. The menu is regularly changed to ensure variety, and you can enjoy your meal by the pool with a beer or at the open fireplace with a glass of wine. We also provide a take-away service for those in a hurry!
The Sunny Club is happy to organize private events. In winter the Clubhouse can provide seating for 70 persons, while in summer 250 guests can be accommodated around the pool. Only a strictly limited number of events can be staged in the course of the year!
Children aged 4-18Sunny Club’s Tennis Academy was set up 25 years ago, and now attracts each year more than 300 young people aged from 4 to 18. The Academy’s philosophy is based on one very simple idea: If children are enjoying themselves and their interest and imagination are engaged, then they will learn to love what they are doing, and it will become a lifelong passion.
To this end we are always looking for ways to make the children feel part of a team. And because we know what a difference the instructor makes, the Academy employs some of the country’s most talented trainers, specialists in teaching children the basics of tennis through a pleasant and constructive course of instruction. To foster team spirit in the children and encourage the process of socialization, we frequently organize and take part in matches within and outside the Club. Our Club is recognized by the Greek Tennis Federation and players from the Club take part in the Federation’s official competitions.fu jow paiFu Jow Pai Academy
Children aged 5-18Since 2000 the Sunny Club has been running courses in the martial art of Fu Jow Pai (official Wushu Kung Fu style) for children aged 5 to 18. Expert instructors specializing in coaching children teach them the principles of the martial art of Fu Jow Pai and the five key skills of a successful competitor: strength, speed, flexibility, accuracy and balance. As part of their subscription, students attend as many sessions as they wish or as their instructors deem necessary, at the appointed times and days each week for their age group.
Our Club is recognized by the Greek Kung Fu Federation, and members participate in official events organized by the Federation.fencingFencing Academy
Children aged 6-18Fencing is the most recent sport to be offered at Sunny Club. The first course was offered in 2011, and the Club is still the only place in the northern suburbs of Athens where children can do fencing. Sunny Sports Club also offers classes for adults, as well as private coaching sessions.
Fencing is a sport that demands a wide range of attributes and helps children to develop a variety of physical and mental skills. Young fencers will develop speed, stamina, strength, explosiveness, accuracy, reflexes and flexibility.chessChess Academy
Children aged 5-18Sunny Sports Club offered its first chess classes back in 2006, and they have proved a great success. Every year we run courses for children to learn the rules and tactics of the game, helping them to use their brains to think strategically.
It is well known that chess improves a person’s memory, and can help children perform better at school. Children who play regularly develop valuable skills: mental discipline, concentration and decisiveness. They also learn to respect and evaluate their opponents. Why not give your children the chance to learn one of the world’s most amazing games – and learn to put their brains to use in a completely different way!baby sports Children aged
2-5 yearsThe innovative sports program of Sunny Club is suitable for very young children, aged 2-5 years. Within an hour, children can learn the fundamentals of sports through fun games and activities. The program includes a variety of outdoor sport activities such as: mini tennis, basketball, handball, football and gymnastics, along with interactive and musicokinetic indoor games.
Baby Sports program has been designed by expert coaches and is an adaptation of the popular sports in the measures of our little athletes. All activities take place as playtime so that the children can easily participate and improve basic kinetical skills while developing their psycho-spiritual abilities such as responsibility, sociability, imagination and creativity.
swimmingChildren aged 10 months to 18 years
Every summer Sunny Sports Club organizes a Swimming Academy, run by expert instructors. Training sessions are one-to-one, but group sessions are also available. A much better option than the big, impersonal pools, because your child will enjoy the individual attention he or she needs.sunny juniorΠαιδιά 10-16 χρονών
A camp for older children, giving them the chance to use the whole range of the Club’s facilities! During that awkward period after the schools have closed but before you leave on vacation, your children can engage in creative play activities here in Athens, in a beautiful, natural setting.
The programme is for children aged 10-16 and includes, every day: tennis and swimming lessons, pool games and activities, and gymnastics in the Club’s fully equipped gymnasium. Every day there is a one-hour tennis lesson and a half-hour lesson at the pool – all run by experienced instructors under the supervision of a group leader. The children are divided into groups according to their age and abilities at each sport. During the remaining hours the children do gymnastics, play in the pool or on the courts – passing their summertime in Athens creatively and enjoyably.
Lunch is served at midday – prepared by the Club’s restaurant from pure, natural ingredients. The menu is available for parents to inspect from the beginning of each week.sunny kidsChildren aged 4-10
Apart from the tennis and swimming camps organized each summer, with highly trained instructors, the Club also offers the Sunny Kids programme for children aged 4 to 10. Every day from 9.00 to 15.00 the children have the chance to play tennis, to swim, to eat beside the pool and take part in the theatre games run by a specially trained instructor.
Through our organized and efficient approach we have managed to create an ideal setting in which children can familiarize themselves with sports and learn to love them through games and play. Each section is designed to instruct through enjoyment, the ultimate objective being that the children should be encouraged to see exercise as a lifetime habit.fu jow pai campChildren aged 5-16
Sunny Sports Club organizes a special summer programme in FU JOW PAI for children, combined with swimming lessons and other club activities. Every day the programme features one hour of Fu Jow Pai instruction, 1/2 hour of swimming instruction, and then games and activities with a trained educator. All coaching is given by fully trained PE teachers. The children are divided into groups according to their age and level of skill at the sport in question.play sports & learnChildren aged 18 months - 5 years
Sunny Club’s Play and Learn programme for children aged 18 months to 5 years is designed to help children develop their full range of skills through sports and play.
In two 45-minute sessions a week the children take part in fun activities on the tennis courts, in the pool and in the music room – activities which help them interact with other children, develop physically and increase their knowledge of the world around them. Every 45-minute session is structured around a different activity (e.g. baby swimming, baby tennis, music or gymnastics). Parents are notified in advance of the schedule of activities, so as to bring along any necessary equipment, such as bathing costumes or sneakers.
Parents are expected to be present throughout each session.
If you don’t fall into one of the age groups catered for above – don’t worry! At Sunny Sports Club we offer coaching and instruction in all short of different sports, and for all ages.

Sunny Sports Club is a member of the General Secretariat for Sport, the Greek Tennis Federation (ΕFOA) and other sports federations like the Greek Kung Fu Federation, etc. For more than 25 years now we have had a tradition of sending competitors to high-level competitive events.
Our coaches – who have years of experience and training, as well as official coaching permits from the General Secretariat for Sport – undertake to prepare athletes in our competitive sections from an early age, inculcating team spirit, discipline and methodical training methods to help them meet the challenges of the official competitive events in which they will participate, while also developing valuable social skills.
Many of our activities are designed to strengthen social ties among our members and enable them to meet new people. To this end, we organize:tennis tournamentsEvery year we organize a number of tennis tournaments – such as the internal championship, the veterans’ championship, the youth/adults championship and the ‘Greek islands team championship’. The idea is to allow our members to make new acquaintances and friends through sporting activities, and to be able to meet on a daily basis. We also organize tournaments for companies and associations, like Athens 2004, the Greek Tennis Federation, etc.seminarsWe organize frequent seminars on important and relevant topics. Past topics have included tennis psychology, athletes and their parents, etc. We feel that as experts in the field of sport we should offer our members a comprehensive view of sporting activities and issues, helping adults and children to train and play correctly, and to improve their technique and competitive psychology.events and children’s partiesWhenever the occasion arises we are happy to organize special events and parties, whether to present prizes and awards or for any other reason. The main idea is to strengthen the friendships made at the Club and to ensure our members always feel at home.
